Stephen Bailey + Marie Goulbourne + Rosie Wilby + Jonathan Mayor
Robert Bolt Theatre, Waterside, Sale, M33 7ZF
An evening of the very best in alternative comedy featuring Stephen Bailey, Rosie Wilby and Marie Goulbourne with Jonathan Mayor (MC).
Stephen Bailey
Comedian, presenter, actor and writer, Stephen Bailey is a proud northern, working class, gay man.
The multi-award nominated star’s indecorous brand of gossipy humour has singled him out as one of the UK’s most sought-after talents for comedy and entertainment formats.
Stephen’s credits include Unbreakable (BBC One), co-host on Date or Drop (BBC One) alongside Amanda Holden, Live at the Apollo (BBC Two), Would I Lie To You & Richard Osman's House of Games (BBC One), Between The Covers & Strictly: It Takes Two (BBC Two), Pointless Celebrities (BBC One), Live from Barry Island (BBC Wales), The Stand Up Sketch Show (ITV2), Roast Battle (Comedy Central), Celebrity Mastermind (BBC One), The Apprentice: You’re Fired & Sara Cox's Between The Covers (BBC Two), Love Island: Aftersun (ITV2), Tipping Point: Lucky Stars (ITV) and a regular CelebAbility (ITV2).
Most recently, he has recorded BBC's new stand-up show Live From Barry Island and his debut BBC Radio 4 stand-up special "Stephen Bailey: One of Many"
Rosie Wilby
Rosie Wilby is an award-winning comedian, author, speaker and the creator of global hit podcast and book The Breakup Monologues. She has appeared many times on BBC Radio 4 programmes including Woman’s Hour, Loose Ends, Saturday Live and Four Thought, on TV programmes including Good Morning Britain and at major festivals including Latitude and Glastonbury.
Her first book 'Is Monogamy Dead?' was shortlisted for the Diva Literary Awards 2017, longlisted for the Polari First Book Prize 2018 and followed her TEDx talk of the same name.
Her acclaimed trilogy of solo shows investigating the psychology of love began with The Science of Sex and ended with The Conscious Uncoupling, which toured to venues including London's Southbank Centre and was shortlisted for Funny Women Best Show.
Nicknamed 'the lesbian Louis Theroux', Rosie loves to use humour to unpack difficult questions about modern life and spread awareness of more conscious ways of beginning, maintaining and ending human relationships.
She presents radio shows for the BBC, Virgin Radio and Resonance FM, writes for publications including The Guardian, Sunday Times , Cosmo, Stylist and New Statesman and speaks about relationships, resilience and reinvention at conferences and corporate events.
Marie Goulbourne
Marie Goulbourne is an original, authentic and self-effacing comic who speaks candidly about her life as an autistic oddball in the modern world. If you’re averse to swearing, or honesty to the bone, she’s not for you. Dry, refreshing and a little bit different.
‘Marie is instantly likeable, dry, smart and above all, funny. A nice change in the sea of comedy beige!’ - Harriet Dyer, Barking Tales
‘Wonderful. Such great timing!’ - Jo Enright
Jonathan Mayor (MC)
Jonathan Mayor sets the stage alight with his razor sharp audience banter and stunning charisma. But don’t be fooled by the glitter and glamour, underneath lies an intelligent line of socio-political humour, from a unique and fascinating perspective, He will reduce any audience to hysterics whether they are erudite, Radio 4 listeners or the drunkest Friday night crowd.
A flamboyant and charismatic performer, when Jonathan arrives, it’s Showtime, engaging the audience both on and off-stage. He is one of the few acts who will not only perform when the stage lights are on, but also wander among the crowd, chatting and charming – truly “hosting” the night. These qualities have ensured that Jonathan is, in either role, one of the UK’s most popular choices with audiences and promoters alike.
He also receives requests for appearances at events that vary wildly in nature, such as burlesque shows, cabaret nights, Pride Events, biker festivals, corporate occasions, street theatre, balls, weddings, civil partnerships, birthday parties and poetry nights.
Jonathan is also one of Sarah Millican’s regular tour supports.
